Brownie Bottom Cheesecake Bars

I feel like mash-up foods have been really popular lately (i.e. macaroni and cheeseburgers or how about grilled cheese hamburgers?) If you can’t choose between two things just smash them together and eat both.  It’s a perfect solution for the indecisive.

In this case we’ve got a brownie covered with cheesecake.  Who says you should have to choose between the two when you can have both?  Enjoy!

Cold Chocolate Snacking Cake

This recipe is billed as a “cake,” but everyone who saw it referred to it as a “brownie.”  I suppose we could go into a philosophical debate about the point in which a cake reaches a high enough density to be called a brownie, but it’s probably just easier to enjoy without thinking about it too much.  If you insist on defining it maybe we could think of a new word (Cownie?  Brake?) Basically, if you like chocolate I think you’ll like this.  Enjoy!

Red Velvet Cheesecake Swirl Brownies

These “brownies” were intense.  I suppose you could also call it a cheesecake…or a really dense red velvet cake-whatever floats your boat.  Although, I’m not sure these brownies would be floating on any boats.  They are dense, rich, and very moist.  I’m fairly certain they’d sink in water.  These were also really awesome because the swirled look makes them look very professional, despite being very easy to make.

Brownie Cupcakes

One day a brownie was walking down the street and it came across a sign that said “CUPCAKE PARTY THIS WAY!”  The brownie, having always admired cupcakes, with their twirled frosted tops and light, crumbly insides, followed the signs.  However, when he got to the building where the party was, he was greeted by a bouncer, who told him, “NO SQUARES ALLOWED!”  Feeling utterly dejected, the brownie crossed the street and sat on a bench, lamenting his lot in life.  Suddenly, he felt a shadow cross him and looked up.  Standing before him was the most  most beautiful cupcake he’d ever seen.  She had light yellow frosting, swirled to a perfect peak atop a round cake enclosed in a fitted paper liner.

She asked him, “why are you crying?”

He replied, “I’m not allowed to go to the cupcake party because I’m a brownie…and I’m square.”

The cupcake smiled, “Oh, that’s no problem.  Anything can be a cupcake.  All you need is this.”  She pulled a fresh cupcake liner from her purse.  “Get into this and you will become the richest, most chocolatey cupcake ever seen.”

The brownie smiled.  He got into the cupcake liner.  It was a little awkward at first, but soon he felt like a true cupcake.

“Come on,” said the cupcake, “let’s go to the party.”

“No thanks,” said the brownie, “I don’t want to go to a party where a bunch of bigots discriminate against brownies.”

And, with that, he walked into the sunset flaunting his beautiful new cupcake liner, in search of a party where all desserts are welcome.

With that, here’s the recipe to make your own cupcake brownies.  I hope you enjoy and appreciate your brownies no matter what shape they are.

White Chocolate Brownies

I was curious about what the difference is between a blondie and a brownie because I suppose some people would look at these and call them blondes.  According to Wikipedia a blondie is like a brownie, but with vanilla substituted for the cocoa and contain brown sugar.  So, I don’t think these are truly blondies because they don’t have brown sugar and still contain chocolate.  BUT then you get into the whole controversy about whether or not white chocolate is truly chocolate.  People seem to be divided into two camps on that front.

Quite frankly, I really don’t care what you call them.  They are rich, sweet, and delicious.  I hope you can see past the meddlesome details of semantics and just enjoy making these and eating them.  Here’s the recipe!

Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Brownies AND Chocolate Covered Strawberry Fudge

Hi all,

It’s been a while since I posted a new recipe, so I’ll make this one a double whammy.  In my experience if there is one thing people seem to love even more than cookies, it’s probably raw cookie dough.  The only problem with raw cookie dough is those pesky bacteria-laden eggs.  But now we have a rather obvious solution:  egg free cookie dough.  Another problem quickly arise though which is: how do you eat raw cookie dough without making a mess?  Similarly to salsa, cookie dough needs some sort of vehicle to effectively make it to your mouth.  That’s where the brownie comes in.  Cookie-dough laden brownies.  It’s Presidents Day and I don’t think you can get much more American than that.

Here is the recipe, enjoy!

Speaking of holidays, I couldn’t let Valentine’s Day weekend pass without making something pink and this Strawberry fudge seemed to fit the ticket pretty well.  There’s something magical about chocolate and strawberries.  I hope that your Valentine’s Day was filled with both.

Reese’s Ultimate Brownies

I’m always on the lookout for new recipes and this is one I found on a little card posted next to the chocolate chips in the baking aisle at the Safeway.  It’s almost like they were trying to encourage me to buy chocolate chips by providing me with a recipe right there to use them in.

Intentional or not, I did give Hershey’s my business by buying some peanut butter chips. You can use either regular chocolate chips or peanut butter chips (like I did) for this recipe.’S-Ultimate-Chocolate-Brownies
